Smash Land - Smashing through with Super Cell

Smash Land Logo

Cute characters, unique game-play, Super Cell has released a totally different game play experience compared to their previous games like Clash of Clans, Boom Beach and Hay Day.

Smash Land a freemium game follows the adventure of Adventure boy, the main protagonist of the game, on his quest of becoming a hero. Armed with a little sword and travelling in his little dingy boat, he meets new heroes who will aid him in his quest.

Adventure Boy and the other heroes

Game-play

Each hero obtained along the quest can be unlocked with the gold earned from each stage that you clear. The heroes have their own respective abilities and you can mix and match them in your play to eliminate the monsters faster. As of now, I have only obtained two new heroes being Wiz Grump, a wizard who can cast fireballs and Princess Pow who can transform into a gigantic axe to decimate the enemies.

The game-play is rather straight forward. You can fling your character like a slingshot at the monsters  (similar to Angry Birds) and they behave like pool balls as they can bounce off the wall and move in another direction. I can foresee more intricate play for example launching your character to hit the enemy and than bouncing off the wall to another safe corner to avoid subsequent enemy attacks. It also features a turn-based system where you have a turn to clear as many enemies as possible and then any enemies remaining will attack you.

Gold and Experience points - Treasures in the chest

Reward and Energy Bar System

Besides the gold earned which you can use to upgrade your hero skills or purchase new heroes, you will also earn experience points which you need to unlock new features in the game like the multi-player feature that can be unlocked at level 4 experience.

Each quest requires you to use a certain amount of energy from your energy bar so this will refill after some time. But there is always the option of paying to get the energy bar refilled instantaneously.

Multiplayer Feature

Opinion

What I like about this game is that it does not really consume too much of your time. So if you have free time to spare on the train or waiting for someone, you can whip out your phone for a quick game.

The cute characters and game-play may not appeal to the more grown-up audience but I am sure it will definitely appeal to the children. Maybe that's the target audience that Super Cell would like to capitalize on.

In any case, have fun! Do leave any comments below and check out the other exciting posts.
